Senior Manager, Golf

Overview

Responsible for creating key commercial relationships and meeting sponsorship targets on IMG owned assets including Honda LPGA Thailand, HWWC, Scottish Women’s Open, WGC-HSBC Champions. WAAP etc.
Create key commercial relationships for The R&A and their assets.
Secure commercial/ endorsement deals and appearances for WME/ IMG clients.
Retention of existing golf clients and recruitment of elite new talent.

Hours of Work
7.5 hours per day between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch, normally between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
Non-Working Days
Saturdays, Sundays, Japanese national holiday and the period that includes December 30th and 31st and January 2nd and 3rd
Annual Leave
granted 10 days from the start day (prorated after July to Dec)
Compensation
depending on your ability and experience
Overtime allowance
Eligible but 35 hours of overtime wage is already included in monthly salary

Responsibilities

• To maximise sponsorship sales by creating new relationships & opportunities across the IMG Golf Events portfolio. Deals can range from USD20,000 to USD1,000,000
• To maximise commercial and appearance opportunities for WME/IMG clients
• Consistently identify target brands and generate face-to-face meetings to establish new corporate partnership relationships
• Build trust and relationships with existing golf clients and their teams
• Build relationships with JGTO, JLPGA and the JGA
• Identify and recruit elite talent in collaboration with the global golf client team
• Create and deliver sponsorship presentations using existing templates
• Perform contractual negotiations with sponsors through to signature
• Manage the renewal of existing sponsorships across events and clients
• Support and work closely with Senior Management (events and clients) and Event Directors / Player Agents
• Maximise all potential revenue to achieve/exceed event targets.
• Work with sponsorship account managers to ensure successful delivery of contract and work towards renewal.
• Work collaboratively with the wider IMG / WME sales team
• Ensure that all pipeline and deals are reported and up to date on the CRM system
• Maintain a good knowledge of industry trends, competitor events and relevant sponsorships
• Weekly / Monthly forecasting reporting to Senior Director, Golf, Japan
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders across marketing, events, operations, sales and account management.


Unusual Challenges or Circumstances

• Regular weekend work where you may be required to travel to service clients or events in line with key priorities
• Calls with global client and event teams as may reasonably be required with time zones


Key Results Areas

• Commercial leadership and delivery of sponsorship revenue across client and event portfolio
• Commercial delivery for WME/IMG golf clients
• Ensuring annual sponsorship targets are reached/exceeded
• Delivery of new sponsors to the portfolio
• Management and retention of existing sponsors
• Identify and exhaust alternative revenue streams


Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales / events / sponsorship
• A good knowledge and understanding of brands and how they buy sponsorship
• A good knowledge and understanding of the start to end sales process
• A black book of current up to date brand relationships and knowledge of trends
• Experience of face-to-face meetings, presentation creation and proposal writing
• Knowledge of sports and golf brand landscape
• A proven track record delivering high value sponsorship deals and generating commercial revenue experience is required
• Excellent relationship building and communication skills
• An understanding of digital media and how it can be commercialised
• Experience working across multiple properties
